export orthophotos/convert images
« on: April 10, 2024, 12:58:56 PM »
Hello
Can someone explain to me exactly what transformations are applied to the images that are exported using the "Convert images" and "Export orthophotos" tools? I am working with UINT16 monochromatic georeferenced images and I would like to export the images after they have been aligned (but without any other alteration).
For example, the DN range in my original sample tiff image is 324-4051. The DN range in the "Exported orthophoto" is 369-3573 and the DN range in the "converted image" (after I unticked the "apply color correction" box) is 359-3787. So it seems that in both cases what I am getting back is not simply the original image with new coordinates but the DN values were altered in some way
Thanks
Raphael

Hello Raphael,

Export orthophotos feature allows to save individually orthorectified images (images projected on to the mesh/DEM surface) on disk, whereas Convert Images option allows to save undistorted (or distorted images) using the parameters from the Camera Calibration dialog.

Export orthophotos option may give you different distribution of the pixel color values, if the surface used for the orthomosaic generation has holes in it - in this case some parts of the original image could not be projected and will not appear on the orthorectified image.

Can I have some help figuring out how to export more than one orthophoto at a time. It allows me to export one at a time but when I try to batch export, it won’t work- it tells me “unsupported file extension”.
