Dear all,
I have a question regarding point cloud resolution and grid spacing in Metashape (Professional Version 2.1.1, 64-bit).
During the Build Point Cloud step, there is an option to enable "Uniform point spacing" and define the point spacing (m) (which btw for some reason is only available via batch processing and not through Workflow > Build Point Cloud).
My first question is:
What exactly does this point spacing value represent? The manual only notes that it “specifies the desired distance between points of the point cloud to be generated,” which is quite vague. The default is 0.1 m (10 cm), yet the point clouds I generate clearly contain more than one point per 10 cm. How does Metashape determine this spacing, especially since I apply scaling to my models only at a later step?
My second question is:
Is this parameter typically used to control or standardise point cloud resolution? I’m interested in this because I’m working with a series of models and need to ensure they all have comparable resolutions.
Thank you for your insights.
