washed out / fuzzy patches in orthophoto
« on: November 06, 2013, 07:25:43 AM »
Have created an orthophoto from 807 aerial images. For the most part the orthophoto is crisp with a resolution of 2.7cm, but there are patches in the orthophoto that are fuzzy and washed out. Any suggestions as to cause and possible cure? Am a new user and getting used to all the setting/options.

Thanks so much

Hello ScottH,

Could you please send some screenshots and reconstruction parameters used?

Hi Alexey,
A screen shot of a washout area is attached. To give you some background information all photos used in project are geotagged with coordinates in WGS84, no other control was used. As far as the reconstruction parameters used all settings used were from the intermediate tutorial with the exception of control points. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello Scott,

If may be a result of blurry images, as mentioned above, or cameras with high roll/pitch values (for example, camera that is looking nearly parallel to the ground). In such cases we recommend to disable cameras with big roll/pitch values (both negative and positive) prior to orthophoto generation.

Another reason is low face count values - huge polygons may cause the same effect, so please use larger face count value, in case it is 200000 by default.
