image overlap - Agisoft please clarify

In the PDF, Image Capture Tips - Equipment and Shooting Scenarios, it says; "In case of aerial photography the requirement can be put in the following figures: 60% of side overlap + 80% of lateral overlap at least." I'm a little confused by this statement.

Using this image as a reference, does that mean 60% overlap between photos (forward overlap) and 80% overlap between flight lines (lateral overlap)?

Side lap means inbetween flightlines and lateral overlap is between photos

However the image is shows 20-40 sidelap and 60 frontal

It's just an image I linked to off the internet for reference.

Here's a couple more internet images and their captions. The second one indicates side overlap is between flight lines, as you did:

Forward Overlap within a flightline is from 60 to 70%. This provides for stereoscopic view of the area and complete coverage.


Sidelap between flightlines is from 25-40% and ensures that no areas are left unphotographed.

It's a typo, the document should say that 80% of forward overlap and 60% of side overlap are recommended. We'll fix it in the pdf file. Thank you for pointing it out.
