2.2.1 build 20443 - can't decompress depth error
« on: April 23, 2025, 02:23:26 AM »
Hello,
I try to create the mesh from a project which has 545 drone photos and 197 laser scans but no matter what settings I choose (low, medium, high) I always get this error "cant decompress depth". I tried to hit the retry button some times, it looks like it proceeds but it's painfully slow to continue like that. Is this a bug? With this pc I have successfully processed many similar projects without this error. I have also set my virtual RAM manually to 512GB and I have plenty of disk space on my ssd. Does anyone know how to avoid this error?

Hello bassistas,

Usually "can't decompress depth"message indicate that intermediate processing files related to the depth maps data have been corrupted.

If you observe the problem on the particular project only, we would like to request the project files and related source images that can be used to reproduce the problem.

Additionally please share the complete log from the Console pane to support@agisoft.com (that includes the starting lines of the application) and specify the OS version used and NVIDIA driver version installed.

Responding here to add that I'm encountering this same issue during the Build Model step (after depth maps are calculated), but I am continuing to troubleshoot before sending over project files. I'm including the information below in case it's of use to anyone in the future.

Metashape Version: 2.2.1 build 20491
OS:  Windows 11
NVIDIA driver:  Studio Driver 576.02 (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/243339/)
Metashape Log:  https://we.tl/t-dCt0ZT7Vk5

Project Info
  • ~3900 photos
  • 42 laser scans
  • Build model settings attached

Hi All,

I have the same issue when I upgraded to Meteshape V2.2.1.
I have tried it on two different workstations with clean new projects but when generating the Tiled Model I get the 'can't decompress depth error'. I have tried upgrading the NVIDIA driver to the latest version but this also didn't help.

Are there any developments on this or have you guys found a solution?

Thanks!

Regards,

Remco

I received the following from Alexey - haven’t had an opportunity to re-process yet, though.

“Can't decompress depth error has been fixed in 20524 build, but please install 20539 build (available from downloads page of our web-site)”

Is this build also updated for the python module?

Resolved by re-running the depth maps. Must have been a corrupted file, as Alexey suggested.

Hello jrjdavidson,

Try also updating to the very latest 2.2.2 version build 21287, as there were some additional fixed and checks included which may give more information, if any similar issue appears.
