Shape layers don't move with new georeferencing
« on: November 28, 2025, 08:04:23 PM »
Good afternoon,

I'm working on a project being used to quantify ecological patterns. To do this, I have made several large underwater 3D models, in which I have been annotating individual organisms using the shape layer tool. The shapes are both points and polygons.

Now, I've noticed a potential mistake in the georeferencing, and I need to modify both the GCPs and coordinates of the cameras. However when I do so, the shapes do not follow the new model.

My question is

Can I "tie" the shapes to the model or similar so that any spatial changes to the model via georferencing will be applied to shape layers as well?

Thank you for your time and kindest regards,
David

Hello Dave,

to do this, you can select all shapes and with right button context menu, select Attach markers option. Then after a new georeferencing, the attached shapes will follow the model.

In attachment, I placed a non attached linestring on corner of building. I duplicated it and attached markers to it. After new referencing, the attached shape (red with icons on vertices) follows new position of building while non attached one does not(blue).

Hi Paulo,

Worked perfectly! Thank you very much for responding so quickly!!! Certainly saved me a few weeks having to re-do everything

Kindest regards,
