Metashape to Archicad coordinate axes
« on: December 06, 2025, 05:20:06 PM »
Hello,
I am contacting you as a building draftsman. I am currently taking measurements of an octagonal building and I am encountering a difficulty with the wooden posts, which are difficult to document accurately on paper.
I therefore tried a photogrammetric approach using my Samsung Galaxy S10+. The 3D reconstruction was successfully completed with Agisoft Metashape 2.2.2.

However, I encountered a problem: my model is not level, as you can see in the image. The model appears tilted, and I believe this may be due to the photos I took, as I did not use any geolocation.
I would like to know how I can level my project. Once this correction is made…

If I export the model in .e57 format to view it in Archicad, the plan view looks like this:

I added a note with a wooden post, and it is not oriented the same way as my model.
I cannot see the wooden beams, but it is clear that the project is not level. When I look at it in 3D:

I can see the model, but it is tilted. I also placed a post to show the height misalignment.

Attached is a photo of the project

and psz model

I would be very grateful for any assistance you could provide on this matter.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Hrllo Magictor24,

What you could do is fake a local coordinate system by placing 3 markers at 3 corners of a tile on ground on at least 3 neat images, Then in reference pane enter the coordinates for them In example, I suppose that tile is square 40 cm by 40 cm and entered coordinates shown. Then I update transform and I get posts vertical (along local Z axis). Of course you should measure the real tile dimensions ....

Thank you very much for your response, I sent it on Archicad, now it's on level. Thank you very much for the tip.
I wanted to know, I thought the red frame represented the level in Metashape, is that correct?

No, the red frame represents the point cloud bounding box, while the 3 model axis' are shown at right (red X, green Y and blue Z). So XY is plane is level...
