Ground (and vegetation) Classification Questions
« on: March 26, 2026, 12:36:24 AM »
Hello everyone,

I've been collecting data on large datasets since last year, about 7 areas, each with 1000-80000 photos. These datasets are fairly important for my work and I'd like to make the most of out it, by producing the best deliverables. I used a Mavic 3 Enterprise for capture.
With the newer Metashape, I noticed that there are lots of missing points for ground that remain unclassified. I tried rerunning the ground classification with different settings but I still have not been able to get most of the points I'd like to include.
The best result I got was to classify the forest after I did an initial ground classification. Using 'Select Points by Height' I was able to classify low, medium and high vegetation with decent results, and then manually selecting the leftover points for ground.

My question is, are there any better ways or settings anyone has found to classify ground points? Version 1.8 was a bit easier to get the ground points than newer versions. Maybe because the software was more suited for LiDAR data?

Thanks for any and all help!
