4       Electrolytic capacitor aging. When used heavily or over an extended period of time (1+ years) a PSU will slowly lose some of its initial wattage capacity. We recommend you add 20% if you plan to keep your PSU for more than 1 year, or 25-30% for 24/7 usage and 1+ years.

Actually not only for PSU, also for CPU and other components can be effected by their age.
Sometime ago, I read research about it.

dont forget that PSU is aging, approx 10 % a year.... so every year you get 5-10% lower power output from it.....

Do you have a reference for this? If true I have a couple systems sitting around that probably shouldn't even be able to boot.

Same here, some machines I still use are fairly old. The one in question in this thread is maybe 4 years old...

Maddin, its my real experience in last years. BUT this is mostly for the ACTIVE PSUs, the older PC say 8-10 years back 200-300W PSU are working even now.  Have friend who repairs a lot of elct devices and say the same. its again then f****g economics, because they need that we buy new ones every 2,5 year. My last 2 PSU died just few months ather 2 year warranty ( 4-7 Months ). now have 1300W and use just 800W

And don't forget that if PSU is 600W,you have approx 100-120w just for the 5V circuits... other 480-500 w are used by GPUs and other power hungry "devices"
