PS in the cloud?

I am hitting the limits of how many RAM chips my machine can take, and before upgrading the entire machine, I am wondering whether I could rent CPU time on one of Amazon's EC2 servers for this?

• Is this possible at all with the current PhotoScan license?
• Has anyone done any tests towards this?
• Is PhotoScan able to distribute computation across multiple machines? I assume I could split the project into different chunks and have each chunk processed on a different machine and then try to merge them, but maybe there is some automatism for this?

Hi maddin!

As far as I know, this is not currently supported at all.

You can (I wouldn't really recommend it right now) write a script that takes orders from a remote client (look for SimpleXLMRPCServer in the Python docs) ; however, you still have to start it manually, it isn't very easy to use, and it still needs a running X11 session.

If you manage to do something about it, I am interested in hearing about it!

I too would benifit from this service. I have extremely large datasets, and paying $25000 for the computer I require is just too much where I can hire 32000 cores for $1200 an hour or part thereof.
