New pc and monitor
« on: January 23, 2014, 11:16:23 PM »
I'm building this pc mostly for processing aerial images.  Is there anything I've missed or should change?

CORE i7 4960X/3.60GHz/15MB CACHE/LGA2011/6CORES/NO FAN
1.00 CORSAIR COOLING HYDRO SERIES H100I LIQUID CPU WATER COOLER
1.00 GIGABYTE GA-X79-UP4
X79, 8DDR3, RAID, GBLAN, PCIE3.0, SATA3, USB3, WF, ATX,
G.Skill DDR3-2133 32GB Quad Channel [RipjawsX] Product Code: GS-F3-2133C9Q-32GXH
2.00 GIGABYTE R929XOC-4GD-GA
RADEON R9 290X, 1040MHZ, 4GBDDR5, DUAL DVI, HDMI, DP, ATX 2SLOT, WINDFORCE3X WITH BF4 LE
1.00 CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 650D BLACK MID TOWER CASE WITH WINDOW, NO PSU, CC650DW
1.00 1000W "Corsair" RM-1000 ATX Power Supply, 80 PLUS Gold Certified, Full Modular, 5 Year Warranty (CMPSU-RM1000)

1.00 LG 24X DVD-R 24xDVD+-R,12xDVD-RAM,DL,BLK, SATA DVD BURNER
1.00 window 7 professional 64bit

I've also got the choice of replacing GPU with GTX 780 TI ??

The monitor I was thinking about is the Asus PB278Q? Should I get NVIDIA GPU to allow 3d vision?

Thanks.

if you ask me, I would replace  R9 290X with R9 280X.    Cos  R9 290X  has serious temperature problem.  Also get two R9 280X. They show better performance compering to Ati 7970 and GTX 780 TI  and cheaper ;)
