smartphone content -> automated 3D modeling?
« on: January 29, 2014, 08:23:02 AM »
Hi!

How difficult would it be to have a process where smartphone images are queued and fed into PhotoScan Pro... similar to 123D Catch?  I'd like to make something like that and right now plan to have it like this:

Smartphone user takes multiple images of object (eg. a room) -> uploads images cloud database -> PhotoScan Pro is fed images from database -> PS Pro automatically does its magic on a high-end computer -> 3D models are exported back to smartphone user.

Am I missing anything?  It seems too easy...

Thanks!  This is really awesome software!

Hello oogawagga,

Actually our company policy is against such applications of PhotoScan.

Hi Alexey,

Thanks for the clarification on that... Would it be permitted if people could view those files, but not download them?

For example, we wish for people to take a 3D reconstruction of their face/body and use it as an avatar on our online game.  We would "own" that 3D content produced from their images and not allow them to download the 3D models for their own use.

Thanks!
