Region editing/clipping/masking for processing
« on: January 29, 2014, 11:50:43 PM »
Wish List item:

I really like the addition of the free-form selection tool in 0.9x, but it would be very nice (for aerial orthos and DEMS to be able to import shapes (kmz or .shp) to constrain processing and/or output.

Ideally I would like to be able to constrain both point cloud processing/output and mesh generation with a shape file, but kmz would be a good second. I don't know how much processing time this would save, but for me it would make it a lot easier to remove areas of dense complex vegetation that eat up my polygon count. Clipping the dense cloud manually isn't practical because the 400-800 million points bog down my system too much.

+1 by me. KMZ, SHP or DXF import would be great.

+1. That's would be great. I had memory problems with irregular shape large projects that after to remove the outer areas I reduced polygon number 30-40%.
