3D body scanner based on 64 low-cost point-and-shoot camera
« on: February 27, 2014, 07:12:19 PM »
We have just finished building our home made 3D scanner based on 64 low-cost Canon point-and-shoot cameras (A1400). Control, synchronization and picture download is achieved thanks to CHDK.

More info, pictures and first results can be seen in our latest blog post:
http://www.artanim.ch/blog/2014/02/building-your-own-3d-scanner/

We are still playing around to find the good compromise of camera settings, positions (the current setup can probably be improved) and Agisoft parameters. But we are already happy with the first results. Of course we do not obtain the same high res details as with DSLRs but for what we want to do it's quite ok.

I would like to thank the Agisoft team for developing such a nice software.

Sylvain

Just curious, Sylvain...how high a level of detail are you able to achieve? Are your sketchfab examples fairly representative? I was able to get a bit more just doing a head with around 12 Canon A3300's, but the cameras were much closer, and I know those little cameras and lenses only can capture so much detail/quality.

Cheers, -Chad
