simple way to extract specularity level
« on: March 09, 2014, 03:00:26 PM »
Hello, I just had an idea on how to extratct specularity level easily, that could be possibly interesting:

During texture construction, agisoft has to estimate a color of texture at some point, based on different algorithms. The idea is, that due to higlights, the illumination changes more on some spots, while on others, it doesn't, because they are purely diffuse. So, if agisoft is allready extracting texture, it could generate a weightmap based on how much the color of a spot varies on different photos.
It's not a perfect specular map, but it could help a lot, and maybe if it would be used clever, it could also be used to improve texture quality...
