Cutting Pscans models smoothly
« on: April 26, 2014, 10:29:59 PM »
Hello!

this is probably a pretty basic question but I am rather new at this so any help would be very welcomed.

I wish to make cuts of the 3d model produced via Pscan with textures and not have the saw edged cuts. I want to do this on an model of a archeological excavation, where i want to isolate a feature as smoothly as posible and also reatin the RW coorindates (as to work in RW coordiante). IS this posible? Can anyone suggest how i go about this?

The isolated features, would then be imported into a GIS envorment.

Thank you for your reply!

Hello Zissou,

You can shrink the bounding box using Rotate Region and Resize Region tools to the area/obect of interest prior to mesh generation. In this case the edges of the reconstructed mesh will be cut according to the bounding box borders.

if you are just importing into a 2d gis so just the ortho or dem you can export the ortho into a tiff and make a worldfile as well then open up the ortho in photoshop or similar program smothen the edges and load the image into the gis
