dense point cloud format
« on: May 22, 2014, 01:43:06 PM »
Hi,
unzipping the project file exposes the dense point cloud as an .oct file. What software can I use to open and externally edit this file with?
My goal is to edit in slices in order to delete clusters which are self-obstructed by other parts of the model, a feature common to bathymetry data editors.
Many thanks
Tom

You can also export the Dense Cloud in various formats. (lr do you want to read the project file directly because it's quicker?)

I know that!
I want to export, edit externally and re-import the edited pointcloud because there are a number of editing software that are more flexible with complex clouds.

It might have helped if you started by mentioning your goal then. What format of data do you need for your external editor?

I think his question is more about the writing part. He wants to be able to convert the modified Dense Cloud data back to the 'oct'  file so it can be opened in Photoscan again.

That would be nice, although I think there is some checksum going on as well (I tried altering a Photoscan project the  past,  and it did not open after re-zipping).

I would also like to be able to import Dense Cloud data, perhaps we should make a feature request for an official 'import points'  feature?

what about export ply and convert to xyz? Easy to reverse.. no wait, checked the menus. That would make importing the dense cloud a feature request ;)

I would also like to be able to export the point cloud, fix it and import it back to mesh it in agisoft. Either that or some point cloud cleaning and smoothing functions
