How far can a GoPro go...

Hello,
I have also bought a GoPro 3+ Black to carry out photogrammetry works.

However I had several problems with this model.

1. Apparently the 3+ version has the focus not set at infinite, as the anterior model 3, but at a few meters from the camera. The idea seams to be, that the GoPro are mainly used in radical sports contexts, so the filming a person or object in a near field seams to be the more important than having sharpness the whole way to infinite.
For photogrammetry this is surely bad, considering you want to have your object sharp at a few meters oder hundred of meters sharp.

2. In one application I work in the forest, i.e. an environment poor in light. The result is, that the GoPro exposure is too long and the images taken are not sharp. I would like to be able to influence the exposure time, but I do not know how.

3. Well, the  rolling shutter problem is also present in my case, but I think, that is something I will have to resolve with better decoupling of the copter vibrations.


Is there some with GoPro Experience with low light conditions?

1. That seems to be the case for the + model from everything I've read, which is why I bought mine (although a little less than radical ) It is pretty good on closeups for a fixed lens.

2. AFAIK there is no way to set a slowest exposure time or ISO. It's a problem for stills from a bike as well, but less of a problem for video because the higher frame rate requires a faster shutter speed.

I wouldn't buy one specifically for photogrammetry.

Hi,

Have anyone tried photogrammetry with the Phanom 2 Vision +?  It has a 14mpix camera and can shoot RAW.  Anyone   have experience with it?  It seems to be a better camera than the GoPro for photogrammetry?  110/85 degrees FOV.

Ask them for some full resolution 85° sample images. That will help you make a more informed decision.
