smooth vs sharp ?
« on: October 12, 2011, 03:09:15 AM »
Hi

i use smooth  geometry type when i make  turntable ( masked images ) and the result is great ,

with smooth  geometry type  i get a better result than i can get with the sharp , i mean  no holes on the model  and  flying parts   and the shapes are really better

but when i want to make something that is no turntable and without  masking and i turn on smooth  the result is really strange . Anything  looks like bubbles :(  see the image below

in this example  i use "example 1" the statue

i just  want to ask it's there a way to get a nice objects with "smooth  geometry type"  when i use images  without masking  ?

Thanks for your time

Hello aliensa,

The problem with the sample data is likely to be caused by wrong volume selection. As I understand in the case shown on your screenshot PhotoScan tries to reconstruct the whole scene including background buildings. If you use bounding box selection tool after the align photos stage and choose only the area that includes statue the result has to become better.
