Photoscan Version 1.0.4.1847 Texture Build Crash

I am working with a large amount of historical aerial photographs with the intention of creating orthophotos. I am unsure if this version of Photoscan is the most recent update or not, but the program seems to think that it is (under check for updates it says that no update is required).
When building textures for the aligned photos the program runs for approximately ten minutes each time before closing Photoscan completely.

Thoughts? As always, thank you for your time/advice!

Hello rams.2014,

Can you please specify the number and resolution of images used, polygon count of the model and texturing parameters? Also please provide computer specifications and log file related to the issue (can be enabled in PhotoScan Preferences window).

Working with a chunk containing:
36 cameras
Each photo is roughly 17000 x 17000 (some are slightly smaller)
Dense cloud has 45933704 points
3D model: 2996307 faces

Texturing Parameters:
Mapping mode: Orthophoto
Blending Mode: Mosaic (default)
Texture size/count: 4096
Color Correction Enabled

Working on Fedora 20
47.2 GiB memory
Intel Xeon CPU E5520 2.27 GHz x 16 processor
64-Bit
GeoForce GTX 780 graphics
Gnome Version 3.10.2
478.8 GB available on disk

Work Log:

Patameterizing texture atlas...
Calculating color correction...
collecting control points... collected 7951518 points in 7.56179 sec
analyzing 36 images...

At this point the program closes completely. We're looking into the possibility over here of some kind of bug on our computers or operating systems.

Alexey,

It appears that our system simply doesn't have enough memory to handle a large amount of photos at their current size/resolution. I've been analyzing smaller sub-sets of photos and haven't had any issues. Thanks for your time.

Could you please try to generate texture using the same parameters but without color correction?

I had the same problem when I tried to generate a texture to a mesh that was generated without "interpolation"

Did you check this?

Hello MartinBim,

Model texturing generated without interpolation will result in too many texture atlas charts and may lead to pixelated or even completely black texture. So we usually recommend to use interpolation.

That's what I've learned  :)

But I would say, that I had this kind of problem that my computer crashes at the texture generation stage.

Since then I always generate meshes with interpolation and I never had any problems with textures.
