Correct, the GPU is only used for the Dense Cloud reconstruction.

But it speeds up this part a whole lot, without a GPU the Dense Cloud reconstruction will take maybe 10x longer.

Hello, one issue I'm having for some time is that when I want to go to the GPU settings, PS crashes immediately.

Why is this?

Hello,

try to update your graphics card driver with a newer one.

Best regards,

Hello, another reason of PC-crashes is might be GPU overheating. Try GPU-Z and monitor the temperature

I do have the newest driver version. nvidia 340.52 presently.

I'm using GEForce GTX 660.

Photoscan still crashes when I try to open the GPU rider in the 'preferences' window.

OK, two more questions

- do you use the latest version of PhotoScan ?
- you had the latest driver the hole time ?

Alex

yes, I have the 1.0.4 version which I have been using since it's release.

The NVIDIA drivers are not always up-to-date in my case, since some of the upgrades fail, others not. But presently the drive is the newest one.  But to answer your question: no, I did not have the newest driver of NVIDIA all the time.

Cheers

Well, if you are not using win 8, I'm short of ideas.  ;)

The one thing that caused issues in another application was onboard ( CPU based ) graphics card. After disabling it in BIOS everything was ok.

Alex

Yes, that should not be the case on my PC.

But thanks for your time.

It's nothing.  ;)

I did notice however, that the issue is allready discussed in Bug Reports area so I suggest it is continued there to avoid cross-posting.

Best regards,

Alex
