What does it mean?
« on: December 11, 2013, 01:52:15 AM »
Hi,

Sorry just trying to understand, what is the lens calibration for?
I took 3 photos and made the test.  What the result says?
It doesn't explain clearly in the User Manual  if  it is good, bad ?

There is my result,  what can you see?

Calibrating lens...
corners hessian: 1.332 non-maxima: 0.048 correspondencies: 0.001 refine: 0.733
corners hessian: 1.335 non-maxima: 0.046 correspondencies: 0.002 refine: 0.717
corners hessian: 1.312 non-maxima: 0.046 correspondencies: 0.002 refine: 0.695
lm opt: xxxxxxxxxx 192.9 -> 3.55479
lm opt: xxxxxxxx 3.44399 -> 3.4292
reprojection errors: min = 0.0752737 avg = 1.85181 max = 5.88586

Calibration results:
-----------------------------------------
EXIF focal length: 18
fx = 3355.51 +- 4.03819
fy = 3353.83 +- 3.95535
cx = 2148.34 +- 1.12459
cy = 1512.07 +- 1.16873
skew = 0 +- 0
k1 = -0.0964852 +- 0.00240969
k2 = 0.0349885 +- 0.00930195
k3 = -0.0195818 +- 0.010825
p1 = 0 +- 0
p2 = 0 +- 0

Hello Exhale,

Values seem to be adequate, but it is difficult to say anything more.

спасибо Alexey,
By the way, is it possible to make the program to show if it is okay or otherwise.
Can it show the result in different colors.  Like; Green okay ,  orange it seem to be adequate, Red   calibration issue, action needed... etc... I think it would be esier to understand.  What do you think?

Hello Exhale,

Actually, distortion parameter values depend on the lens used, so it can be hardly said if the values are bad or good, unless they are much greater than 1.0.

Hi Alexey

Which parameters do you mean with "much greater than 1.0"? corners hessian or non-m,axima or refine, etc...
