Anyone can do the same thing with correctly lit 2d footage and AE with some simple normal map conversion. It's just a trick. There's a reason why they don't rotate those models. 1x camera will never provide enough data for even partial reconstruction + depth.

dunno, but at  some point (2:00 min.) in the video, they rotate Bush's face...  but true, it does not rotate a lot..

Check the paper link.  On page 11 they show the side views of a few of the solves.  Not a true 3D representation.
