AgiSoft Viewer
« on: October 23, 2014, 11:37:28 AM »
GREAT JOB !!
Finally, we have something that can be used for presentation of our job to customers and is free of charge. For now we are missing stand-alone installation. Maybe few tools can be added too, like distance measurement, profile section, coordinates of the point etc...
Models exported to the TLS  look great and the Viewer is fast..
Congratulations !!

Hello Darko,

You can send to your clients the link to PhotoScan Pro demo installer and ask to choose only Agisoft Viewer during installation, in this case no other applications will be installed (like Agisoft Lens, Network Monitor and PhotoScan itself).

Is it normal that the exporting of "Agisoft Viewer format" needs a long time ?

I need ~ 3.5hours to export a project with 190 images (12MP per Image).

Hello Marcus,

When exporting model into tiles, PhotoScan generates mesh from the dense cloud, so it requires quite a long time if the dense cloud is big, but for this operation it is not necessary to generate the mesh model in advance.

Hello Alexey,

I think this exporting needs a lot of RAM.

My 32 GB of ram were already full, for the 190 Images(i canceled my last try). now i have increased the resolution from 5 cm to 1m.

I think i am not really able to export a normal product of 800 - 1600 images. (with this ram consumption)
Is there some further improvements planed ?

best regards Marcus

Hi Alexey,

Just a question about the HW requirements for the viewer. What is more important GPU, RAM or CPU?

Hello Marcus,

Maybe you can send us the project file with the dense cloud that you have problems with? Also please specify the export parameters used.

Hello Darko,

There are no huge requirements for GPU and RAM, we suggest that 4-8 GB RAM will be sufficient.

High-frequency CPU with SSD might be useful, if you have large project with a lot of tiles, it will allow to minimize tile-load time for visualization, when moving along the model.

Hello Aleksey,

Would it be possible to add the new Stereoscopic mode like SPLIT SCREEN that can be used by many 3d TV's and use simple polarizied glasses. That applys to PhotoScan too.

Hello
Should it be possible to have the viewer standalone ?
A link in order to download only the viewer.
Best regards

Hello Darko,

We'll consider this feature, but since it is not widely demanded, I think that it would not be implemented in 1.1 updates.

Hello clardic,

In principle it is possible to install the viewer alone, if other options are disabled from PhotoScan Pro installer. At the moment we are not planning to release separate installer for Agisoft Viewer and provide it separately from PhotoScan.

Hi guys..

It's been a long time I didn't complain about anything in the Viwer, but I have to push you from time to time. I had a discussion about the additional tools in the Viewer and it is time to make a promisse at least.

I NEED the point coordinate measurement and distance measurement. With that option the Viewer would be complete product for the customer use.

With the aditional option to DRAW the LINE and POINT and than export that to DXF it would become perfect tool for all surveyors to make a map out of the TLS model. That would be like surveying inside the model. With the good model I feel like I am out on the field and I can see the true corners of my building that is impossible to see on the ortho map, and if I can DRAW it..... That's all I would ever ask for!!

Surveryors!!! Please support my idea. Think about it !

So, can Agi think about something like this idea in the future, and if the answer is YES, WHEN?

With this feature, my surveying project could be completely finsihed just with the PhotoSCan, Viewer and some Cad program.

Separate installer, that's something I vote for. But I do understand that you want more people to see and try the PhotoScan. But, would it be possible just to make some kind of registration for the first use instead of that PHotoScan installer that installs all of it by default.

Best regards,

What you really need is a digital stereo photogrammetric station, an economic example is Menci StereoTools, or something more sophisticated for point cloud is DATEM Landscape, depends on your budget.
