texture export problem
« on: December 15, 2011, 03:00:39 PM »
Hello,
Im again having problems with texture export.  Using 47 photographs the model built quite well however the texture is not building well at all.  I have tried Orthophoto and Adaptive Orthophoto with Min, Max, Average and Mosaic settings but all fail to create something useable.  Attached is a scrrenshot of the scene and texture, (set to Adaptice Orthophoto and Max).
Thanks
P.S. on other models the texture builds fine but it is still quite low quality in comparison to (now)123D.  I prefer Agisofts control and mesh building but texture for me is an issue.  I have been combining Agosoft geometry with 123D texture which is not ideal!

Hello Jonathan,

When building texture of the arbitrary type object PhotoScan cuts the texture into pieces that are stored in the texture atlas. But in model pane the texture should be shown in proper way.
For the object like you have on the screenshot the texture atlas looks quite standard, though we recommend to use Generic mapping mode for objects with complicated geometry.

The quality of the texture is defined by the texture atlas size and the quality of the original images.

Maybe you have some requirements for the texture atlas itself? Please let me know what you expect to see in the texture atlas.
Best regards,

im testing it on most complicated forms - ruins of castles, generic is the best, then importing to MAX, and little play with UW map and it can be used, with 123 from Autodesk is much more complicated, and the detail are very low + texture just 2k if remember it good...... will upload on end of year a lot of stuff related to this.....
