Rack server used for Agisoft?
« on: December 19, 2015, 11:09:16 PM »
Hello,

I have a question revolving equipment bought at place where I am (temp) engaged as a techie.
We purchased a multiple purpose server fujitsu PRIMERGY RX 2540 M1, with 2X Xeon E5-2600 v3 processor, 64gb of RAM and 1.5 TB of space.
I would like that we try to use it as a workstation for photogrammetry, however, since it does not have a gpu unit, but uses vGPU for simulating GPU, I am simply wondering if there is any meaning to this intent. It would be used via remote desktop, with windows installed (within already prepped server environment).

I would really appreciate any insight into this, and experiences. I am very interested how Photoscan would manage in this environment.

Best regards

hi Panda - I'd suggest finding out what GPU is fitted, since (as I understand it) vGPU is only capable of sharing a physical GPU, not simulating one   http://www.nvidia.com/object/virtual-gpus.html
