Getting lat/lon from orthomap?
« on: April 29, 2017, 11:42:22 PM »
I impeded this question in another thread, but I thought I'd break it out as a separate topic.

How do I query Agisoft for lat/lon coordinates of an arbitrary spot on the map? I'm hoping there is an analog to right-clicking on Google Maps and choosing What's Here? to get coordinates for the real-world spot that the mouse cursor is pointing at.

Hello Dagon,

In the Ortho view mode you'll see the cursor coordinates in the bottom-right corner of the application window. Also you can put a Point Shape and then use Measure option from it's context menu to get the coordinate information. And another option is to use Ruler tool, if only one point is placed - it will show the coordinate information.
Best regards,

Thanks, Alexey. It's kinda obvious once you notice it!

Hi Dagon,

If you need to record a lot of points and don't want to manually type in the coordinates that are shown in the lower right corner in Photoscan, I suggest to use a GIS software package such as qGIS which is free an open source.

www.qgis.org

It allows you to generate a point vector layer/file which records all the points you digitise on the screen/map. You can then export these points as CSV or TXT file and even change the coordinate reference system if you want.
