Proble with import and export "cameras"
« on: December 27, 2014, 03:14:22 PM »
Please try to take an already aligned project and export the "Cameras" in Bingo format and then try to read the same file in import mode.
It doesn't  work.

Hello zView,

Thank you for reporting.

Indeed, we recently introduced some fixes in the BINGO importer to match BINGO format conventions (positional format with fixed number of characters per field), and didn't update BINGO camera exporter accordingly yet.

This will be fixed in the next PhotoScan 1.1 update.

Are you planning to use BINGO camera export to transfer camera orientation to BINGO or to some other software?
With best regards,

Currently, I have no intention to use BINGO. I am just looking for a simple way to import X, Y, Z, Omega, Phi, Kappa to PhotoScan.

BTW,

If there is a simple way to import it, will the orientation be affecting the way the SW chose couples for image matching in the Alignment stage?

Hello zView,

Import Cameras command is used to load adjusted exterior/interior orientation parameters. These parameters can be obtained from some other photogrammetric software, or from PhotoScan itself in some cases (e.g. when you are processing multiple data sets captured by a fixed multi camera rig).

In case you are dealing with measured coordinates or if available information doesn't include adjusted interior orientation parameters, such data needs to be imported in Reference pane to be used during adjustment in PhotoScan. In most cases it is sufficient to load camera centers, which can be done using Import toolbar button in the Reference pane. CSV format should work fine for you.

In case you really need to load measured camera angles (PhotoScan doesn't use them during adjustment, but it might be useful for reference-based preselection in special cases of very oblique imagery), you will need to convert omega phi kappa to yaw pitch roll before import.

Thanks Dimitry,

Is there any plan to implement a CSV/TXT file format camera import?
Is there a possibility that in the near future a direct read of omega phi kappa will be possible in the reference pane will be implemented?
In the meanwhile are you familiar with any documentation for conversion between omega phi kappa to pitch yaw heading?

Best,
zView

Hello zView,

At the moment we are not planning CSV/TXT file support for camera import, since it should contain not only camera positions and orientation, but also camera calibration information.
However, using Python scripts you can load camera positions from custom formats and also apply omega, phi, kappa conversion to yaw, pitch, roll angles for Reference pane import.

Thanks Alexey,

Can you please refer me to any documentation regarding the omega phi kappa to yaw pitch roll conversion?
