Multiple photo view for setting markers
« on: January 19, 2012, 07:26:17 PM »
It already looks like photoscan should support a multiple document style interface, but i can't see how to get two photos open alongside each other in order to set control point markers easily on photo pairs.

Also when alternating between photos, the zoom level in one photo is affected by the zoom level in the other photo.

If photos could be opened alongside each other, with independent zoom levels, then it could be much faster to specify markers.

Hi there

Another option would bi a semi automatic finding of GCP in all images after bundle alignment. The point has to be marked in a first image, and the corresponding positions in the other images could be found with the precomputed relative orientation of the images. Subpixel accuracy could be reached with a least squares matching...
Such a feature would increase the efficiency of gcp measurement significantly.

Hello Fabian,

Actually if the markers projection are defined on two photos there are estimated markers positions indicated by special icon on others photos, which helps user to detect approximate positions of markers. It is a new feature implemented in PhotoScan version 0.8.5

And there is an option of marker placing using guided approach, though it requires 3D-model the geometry could be reconstructed in low quality (for detailed info please refer to Placing Markers section of Chapter 4 in the PhotoScan User Manual).
