Reuse Depth Maps
« on: February 13, 2015, 01:04:05 AM »
Hello,
there is this option in the preferences to keep depth maps. Also there is the Option in the Denscloud generation Dialog "reuse depth maps".

I wonder how I should use these Options and in which cases I can benefit from these options? I have not found any helpfull info in the documentation.

greetings, Holger

Hello,

There are two stages during densecloud construction.
The first is depth reconstruction, and the second is points generation.

If you checked reuse depth maps, photoscan skips already computed ones and generates the dense cloud.
It works if you do not change the filtering, in wich case it does the whole thing.

Thanks for your reply. I fear I still dont fully understand why I would want to reuse the Depthmaps. You could describe a real world Example when I would want to save the Maps and keep them in the Project? It is increasing the Projectsize quite a bit so I would prefer not to keep them.
But I dont want to regret that In case I should need them later.

Hello,

Right now the only use i have for it is to be able to "pause" dense cloud generation.

you might also need to adjust the Region size in order to include a small part of a very large model (which you have accidentally left out...)
without having to recalculate the depth maps
