Exporting google kml/kmz
« on: January 27, 2012, 11:32:54 AM »
I tested the google format today, but I must say I am a bit confused. What is supposed to happen if you open the file in google earth? Is it only there to indicate global position or is it supposed to show the texture on the ground? Because it only did the first.

I haven't used google earth before for anything other than flying around, I was just curious if the exported model could be viewed there. Or on google maps.

Hello Kjellis,

It is supposed that the user could see textured model in Google Earth if .kml is exported with COLLADA (.dae) model file.

I got the texture working, but the model doesn't show. But I think I know why. My model is of a flat area, not like the building model of yours. Is that why it wont show?

Hello Kjellis,

Could you please share this kmz (or kml+dae+jpg) file or send it to our support.
Maybe there are too many faces in model and Google Earth is still trying to load it.
