Instructions on how to process a scan with projection

I just wrote an instruction on how to process with agisoft a scan with noise projection. Meaning that you have 2 images sets, one with projection that can be used to render a good quality Mesh and 1 image set without projection to create the texture.

Hi Richard

I read your tutorial and it is inspiring. I want to learn about Projection setting. How many projection do you use? What pattern are they projecting? Did you test your system while people move?
I am actually interested in the modeling part for my project. What camera brand do you advice? From the photos you seem to have a small cameras .
(In facial scan thread its a rspi camera but I dont understand how to set a multicamera on rspi system)

I am using raspberry pi computers and cameras. The raspberry computers also generate the projection noise. You can find more information on my website www.pi3dscan.com.

This projection feature sounds interesting. I suppose that u´re working with the burst mode to get quickly the images, but in this mode the resolution of the pictures will be too small for a good picture. How do you solved this?

From my understanding of the Pi. It can take at least 10fps at 5MP.

The Pi can shoot in photo mode and video mode.

In photo mode you can get about 3 FPS at full 5MP resolution. In videomode about 15FPS in full resolution. (will also depend on the speed of your SD card).

I read your website these days and I think your scanner is fantastic!
I also download a set of your pictures with projection and  surprised by the regular pattern projected,especially on the face.
Because I am under the impression that once project from the front, patterns on the cheek and ear should always be out of shape.But what I see on your photos is without any deformation.

The projection feature is good, but it depends on the led-lightning. If you use normal lightning, the projectors are too weak, to project a good pattern on the person. The lightning must also combined with the raspberry to get darker when the pattern is projected. It´s pretty complicated.
