Trouble with domed structure
« on: March 15, 2015, 08:50:36 PM »
Hello. I am working on a historic site in the middle east, and am having diffuculty getting the model to work.  This structure is unique in that it has two domed roofs.  The attachement example 1, shows the main dome of the structure.  Example 2 shows a smaller dome on the annex.  I also attached a photo that demonstrates the relationship to each other.

Both domes seem to not line up correctly.  You can see in the example pics that there are features on the domes that are offset.  Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this model to work better?

Looks like there may be a disconnect in your image sequence... a sudden reduction in image overlap in one section of the building.

e.g. https://skfb.ly/CJpR, Alcove on the left hand side appears to have been crushed. Compared that to https://skfb.ly/CPpn

A few ways forward.
1. Calibrate your lens and fix the lens parameters
2. Add GCPs through areas that have not aligned well
3. Take more shots to provide extra overlap, especially around corners of buildings

In the examples I provided above, the difference was repeating the alignment with fixed, "calibrated" lens parameters.
