Align photos bug
« on: May 19, 2015, 04:45:47 PM »
I've run into a strange bug for aligning photos.   Sometimes, I try to align the photos and it gives a bad result while using certain settings, for example with pair selection on and standard values for tie points etc..   Then I try changing the settings and I get a similar result.. Then I restart the program, and revert to the first settings, or use the last ones, and they align fine. Not sure what is causing this to happen, but it may be good to look into.  It only seems to happen with masked, turntable objects.

If you need any additional info or a log or something, let me know what you need and how I can provide it, and I will do my best.

Sounds a bit like this one.

I think the key bits are:

the alignment result is not stable

and

The subsequent alignment of the whole set may be a result of randomized algorithms used during Align Photos stage, "good luck" is possible to say so.

So actually I recommend to check the overlap between the images and make sure that there's at least triple overlap for the whole surface.
