Export 3d model as stl failed
« on: April 06, 2015, 08:14:26 PM »
New to photoscan i tested to "scan" a 7"figure on a turntable by taking pics with my canon. Following the described workflow i got a great! (textured) result - at the preview window in photoscan. Exporting this as an stl file seemed ok.

BUT when i opened the stl file with Cura it was a just some Millimeter small rough figure like it exported just a vage pointcloud.

What i am doing wrong or missed to do? :-\
And btw. is there a german forum for photoscan around?

Please help. Thanks.

Can you post a screen grab from PS without the texture... or wireframe view.  Do you get the same in another application (eg Meshlab or MeshMixer) .

Have sorted out some fotos, since PS takes CR2(RAW) pics. Restarted the workflow (aligning cams, dense pointcloud, mesh, texture, export) Results as pics below and the result is much better now (even in Cura)
Haven't worked on the material at any stage yet.
Since i am a beginner at 3D in general my guess is the scanresult can be improved by some settings/changings (more contrast at taken fotos...) and some adjustments along the workflow, right? Main issue for me now is the size of the resulting model.

If you're using the standard version, you can resize the model in Meshlab. Measure part of the model in Meshlab and calculate the ratio to scale it up by from the real model. There are plenty of tutorials on that online
