Tooth
« on: March 09, 2015, 05:35:56 PM »
Hello,
i’m looking for advice.
I have found a human tooth in a wall behind a ancient paintwall.
I shot 4 series of pictures with a tourntable. Side 1, Side 2, roots and crown.
I try to process all photos in photoscan in only one chunck but don’t works.
So I have generated 4 models with Photoscan and I merge them in Meshlab, in this way i reached at one model of the tooth.
I have imported that generalized model in each chunks of photoscan and i have re-projected the textures. Now I have 4 model with only one good part of textures (for examples good side 1 but bad other tree sides, you can see the examples at this link: https://sketchfab.com/models/e5ddce218ebc4d16b45b057a418c0c56 ).
My questions are :
How can I project the 4 textures on the generalized model?
It’s possible with photoscan standard edition?
If not, it’s possible make it in meshlab?
Thank you!

Paolo.

Hello Paolo,

I think you need to apply masks to the background on each sub-set of images. Before aligning them in the single chunk.

I suggest that you can generate masks from the reconstructed models for each chunk you've already got (as it is much faster than manual masking), then drag and drop the images from each chunk to the newly created chunk that will contain all the images and then run the alignment process for this combined chunk with "Constrain features by mask" option turned on.

Now the new version of "tooth" is on line at Sketchfab https://sketchfab.com/models/e5ddce218ebc4d16b45b057a418c0c56
