Disc like object, two sides, merging
« on: July 18, 2015, 05:15:34 PM »
Hi,
I'm struggling with a scan of a disc like object that I took photos of
from both sides. I took photos from one side, flip it over and repeat the process.
I imported one set of photos as first  chunk and the other as the second.
I went through all stages and I get expected result for each side separately, but not when
I try to align chunks or merge dense points.
Aligning chunks gives me no result.
Merging dense points gives misaligned point cloud.
I cleaned points to get rid of everything except the disc.

please someone give me a suggestion or solution
Regards
Mario

Can you balance the disc upright?

If so, balance it upright on a textured surface such as newspaper, and photograph all the way round including the textured surface. Align these photos in one chunk.

Then align this chunk with your two original chunks using 'points' alignment. The original chunks will need the background masked out.

Then you can optionally include the chunk with newspaper in the merged chunk or just merge your two original chunks.
