Out of Memory?
« on: August 07, 2015, 09:03:01 PM »
Hello,

I'm running 64bit Windows 7 with 32GB of RAM. And I'm receiving "Out of Memory" error, even though my task manager shows that Photoscan had at least 10GB or so of memory still leftover to be able to use. Does Photoscan calculate ahead and determine that it will run out of memory before it actually does?

I attached a picture of my task manager graph of RAM usage.

Thank you!

Hello chadt,

Please provide some details regarding the workflow like processing settings, current stage, processing log up to the "out of memory" error?

It was during the dense point cloud process at Ultra High setting, with 144 images each at 24MP, scanning a single object (not environment).

How do I see a processing log?

Hello chadt,

Log is accessible via Console pane. Also can be redirected to the text file using corresponding option in the Preferences dialog.

If you are generating the surface in Arbitrary mode, for 144 images of 24 MPix you might need over 96 GB for Ultra reconstruction:

So it seem that PhotoScan tries to allocate more space that is available in your system.

Here's the log.

I did a recalc at High setting and it worked, but would like to do Ultra High. I'll get more memory and retry later. Thank you for that document, very useful!
