Standard Chunk Alignment and Merge

I've used the professional version quite often for my last company, my new company just purchased the standard license and I'm interested in what kind of work around there is for chunk merging. I am scanning a shoe, and with professional version I can easily set a few markers and boom my bottom and top shoe align and I can merge. I wasn't aware this feature is removed completely for standard which is a pretty significant pain and if I have to manually rotate and adjust and tweak to get it aligned and keep trial and erroring it visually that seems really silly. The auto point just doesn't work so that's out the door, but not allowing dense cloud markers for chunk alignment seems really restricting. Any help would be great!
