Photoscan run on server
« on: October 07, 2015, 10:12:08 AM »
Dear Agisoft and forum users,

Currently I'm working on a project with Agisoft Photoscan Profesional v 1.1.4. For the project I need to do a batch process of: aligning, building a dense cloud and creating a mesh of 4000 pictures of 100 MB.
As you can imagine this takes a long time on my i7 @3.6 gHz and 16 GB RAM. It takes around 3/4 days and I would like to be able to do it in 1 day or less.

Therefore I am thinking about buying a server to work with extra processing power. What kind of server shall I buy if I have around 7000 Euro's to spend?

Regards,
Thijs

Hello Thijs,

Maybe you can specify the settings that you are using on every processing step?

To reduce the alignment time you can use lower point limit (20000 for key points and 4000 for tie points), use preselection (Reference is preferred providing that camera center coordinates are available).
For dense cloud generation speed up we suggest to use 1-2 graphic cards like GTX 980 Ti, GTX TITAN Z, or Radeon R9 290x, for example.
