Thanks for the compliment. I have a lot of fun designing these kind of fine tuned setups.
Cross Polarization is used to reduce reflections in skin and clothing, leather for example. I plug polarized textures in the diffuse channel for render and gaming shaders. I also have some cameras without circular polarizers that let all lightwaves through, apart from those filtered by the filters on the lights, of course.. Those are used for specular reference and 3D printing purposes.
I'm using 1.8m softboxes as lighting and large pola filter sheets.
