Bad reconstruction error
« on: April 27, 2012, 06:14:56 AM »
Hi guys

I am facing a trouble here.
I have 70 aerial imagery that in older photoscan professional version worked just fine.
But in the last two version 1419-1423 it gives me this error.
The sparse points are fine, better than the others versions, really better.
But the mesh is a completely mess! All the features are melting and they are distorced, they are bent.
If you look closely you will see the building, mainly the tall ones, are bent and melted.
I use height field, medium, and smooth. I did a test using height field, medium and sharp and nothing came, no mesh at all.
I am really concerned about this, need to discover what is wrong and I don?t want to back to older versions, since the new ones has a lot a good features to work.

Can you run it at High settings ? if you consider that is used every 4-th pixel - it can make diference.....

And can upload Higher res pic that is better to see that effect ?

Hello Fabricio,

Could you please provide us this dataset for internal tests?

If anyone want to download the imagery please send me a pm with the e-mail address so you will be able to get all of them of DropBox.
There is a 70 vertical aerial photos and they are 38 mega each one, so 2.1 giga to download...
I did a test here strip by strip and discover the strip that contains the 31 - 45 photo has the error.
What is struck me why the sparse works well and the mesh is a mess...
The others the sparse is fine and the mesh is amazing.

Hello Fabricio,

Seems like the problem is in incorrect Bounding Box positioning when using Heigh Field geometry reconstruction method. It is required to set red-colored side parallel to the ground plane. In most cases bounding box orientation is calculated correctly but it is better to check it and refine if needed before building the geometry.
