bUMPY SURFACE
« on: April 30, 2012, 03:07:43 PM »
What?s this due to ?... I am unable to achieve the representation of flat surfaces where is supposed there are " flat surfaces " Most of my geommetry, even that trying to be flat, result in a bumpy mesh full of " acne like " shape. Must I change any of the preferences in order to obtain the best result? Filter threshold: 0.5???
Hole threshold: 0.1??? What?s this? ... and maybe is the "answer " to my questions?

What settings did you use for this during both alignment and reconstruct geometry?

You get this results when there is no single optimal solution to calculate the 3D geometry. This can happen:
* when you photograph the scene only from one side;
* when the image alignment is far from optimal (so a bad estimation of camera intrinsics and extrinsics)
* when there is no sufficient image overlap.

I propose you try to realign the images or put them online for us to test.

Cheers,

Geert

I have the same problem here, mainly in roads and streets using aerial photos.
I don?t know how to fix it.

on the face - try to shoot in two positions one lower one higher = you get "stereo" pairs, that mean better coverage for extraction.
Im getting this mostly if not properly setup camera positions, mostly when "pano" style is used......

try it and let us know.....

I have the same result in many roads and other flat surfaces.. there is always a bumpy surface instead of the real world situation > flat.

This is "weak" surfaces. You need shoot photos of walls perpendicularly +-20degree, more than 45 degree you will gave dof blur. and this will create such blobby dense cloud.

Other  photogrammetry software than photoscan, can create better results with flat surfaces.
