Lens calibration: change focus or no?
« on: January 08, 2016, 03:29:12 AM »
When my camera focuses, the focal length drifts slightly, in the past I have been focusing just once, using the same fixed focus for all shots no matter the distance from the subject, under the assumption that the calibration would be accurate only for that one setting.

I'm about to run Agisoft Lens on a new lens, and am wondering if I should, perhaps, focus the camera for each shot of the checkerboard instead of assuming that only one setting will be valid?

Sorry about the wrong forum, I don't want to duplicate the post though, so is it ok to leave it here?

Just once, because otherwise there are moving some parts in your camera and the optic of your camera isn't perfectly constant for all images.
