Adding a new geoid model
« on: December 03, 2015, 08:52:47 AM »
Hi,

Would it be possible to provide a tutorial on how to add a geoid model.  I have converted the geoid model for Australia (AUSGEOID09) to Geotiff, but it is not clear in Photoscan Pro how to add this as a vertical reference system.

Cheers,

SP.

Hello Stu,

Could you please send the geotiff to support@agisoft.com with the link to the geoid description, will try to convert it into PhotoScan accepted format and if it would be find, we'll place the corresponding file to the downloads page.

Hello,

Has a tutorial been created for adding and selecting a geoid model yet?

I've searched through the forums and the software manual and still can't find instructions for selecting a geoid model in the software. I have downloaded North American Vertical Datum 1988 Geoid 12B from the Agisoft website and placed the tiff in the geoids folder.

I see there is an option of NAD83 + NAVD88 height, but not sure if this is correct. Makes no mention of Geoid 12B.

Looking for guidance on the next step.

Thank You

Hello mdetwiler,

North American Vertical Datum 1988 has different implementations (including Geoid 12B). But in what coordinate system do you have the coordinates that you are going to use in your project?

Hello Alexy,

The images are in WGS-84 lat/lon/ellip ht. collected from an eBee RTK. I'd like to be able to adjust the ellipsoid heights to orthometric without using ground control points in Photoscan. But I do have GCP's, in State Plane Nevada West USft orthometric heights derived from the Geoid 12B model.

Hello mdetwiler,

Please try saving the following coordinate system as PRJ file and loading it to the Coordinate System selection dialog:

PROJCS["NAD83(NSRS2007) / Nevada West (ftUS)",
GEOGCS["NAD83(NSRS2007)",
DATUM["NAD83 (National Spatial Reference System 2007)",

UNIT["degree",0.01745329251994328,AUTHORITY["EPSG","9102"]],

I've placed  the ausgeoid09 file into agisoft folder but the coordinate system doesn't appear to refer to it.

I use epsg 28355.  Is there a different epsg I should be using or can I add reference to the ausgeoid within agisoft somehow?

ARF,

I think Alexei was giving a prj for NAD83 in Nevada.....

For Australia geoid, you could use following prj using a compound CS with MGA55
