Preferences P1 P2 and memory usage
« on: May 07, 2012, 05:05:25 PM »

Hi,

Two questions:

1. In the preferences window, there are 2 options for Model Generation named "P1" and "P2". Does anyone know what they are used for ? I cant seem to find anything in the help files about that.

2. Is there any way to calculate how much memory Photoscan would need to generate a mesh from a certain number of photos? Say for example 50 18mpix photos with 50k alignment points found.

thanks,
Joacim

This is for the ULTRA settings - every pixel used !!

2. Mem consuption is hard to calculate, but from few test like 35x 18 Mpix it used around 55 GB RAM.

18x 55 MB size of photos = 1GB RAM just for Photo data.
as we can estimate that is  18x35 = 0,65 Gpixel

18 Mpix x 50 photos =  0,9 Gpix = 100 GB Ram....

Alexey mentioned year back that they have some formula how to calculate but with aprox 50 % precision......

1. It was mentioned earlier in the forum.....
