Problem with points cloud quality
« on: December 16, 2015, 03:24:12 PM »
Hi everybody,

I have a problem with generating points cloud from images. Namely I exported points from PhotoScan and my points cloud is something like grainy points (spare, broken, scattered) in certain areas.

I accomplished flights by Trimble UX5.

Basic information about flights:
- flight altitude: from 125 to 160 m,
- resolution of images (GSD): 4-5px.

After optimized camera parameters I got below results:
Total error (pix) - 0.078
Total error (m) - 0.009

So where is a problem? It happens because of weather condition (cloudiness, wrong insolation)?

I attachmented images of points cloud. I am sending example of a building and road (it has places with grainy points - these are darker)

Best wishes,

Jacob

Hello Jacob,

Can you also post the processing settings used?

Sometimes the dense cloud can be noisy or inaccurate in the areas related to the road pavement if the original images are noisy or blurred and the minor details of the surface are lost.
