PhotoScan 1.2 computes wrong coordinate system orientation
« on: January 15, 2016, 01:25:23 AM »
Aligning a certain dataset in 1.2 does leads to a wrong coordinate system orientation. In 1.6 the orientation is correct.
Bug or mishandling?

Hello Mathias,

Is there any Yaw, Pitch, Roll data for the cameras in the Reference pane?

Hello Alexey,
yes there are Yaw, Pitch and Roll data for the cameras.
Unfortunately the Pitch degree is vice versa (180° instead of 0°).
But Photoscan corrected this.
But the data are the same for 1.1.6 and 1.2.

Data collected by flying beneath a bridge are as well not right computed with Photoscan 1.2. With Photoscan 1.1.6 the photos are aligned correctly.

Hello Mathias,

Starting from version 1.2 PhotoScan utilizes yaw, pitch, roll during alignment, georeferencing and optimization processes, since we've got many requests about that. Version 1.1 and earlier were not sensible to the orientation data.

So if you have very incorrect orientation data I suggest to use low orientation accuracy (like 180 degrees, for example), or just not load the angles to the Reference pane.

Hello Alexey,

what do you mean by "to use low orientation accuracy"?
Do you mean i should set the Accuracy in the aligning process to low?

Hello Mathias,

I meant that you need to open Reference pane settings dialog and put high number for orientation accuracy that is 2 degrees by default.
