"Not Enough Memory" message in 1.2
« on: January 23, 2016, 07:12:03 PM »
Greetings,

I have a medium size project, ~900 images, that I am trying to process in the latest version of photoscan. My computer has 128gb of RAM.

When I go to the "build orthomosaic" step, I get the message "not enough memory".

I have processed much larger projects with this computer and previous versions of PhotoScan.

Any solutions out there?

Dave

Hello Dave,

Are you using version 1.2.3? What are the parameters of the orthomosaic generation and if you are using mesh as a source, what is the polygon count?

Greetings Alexey,

I have Version 1.2.3 build 2331.

Where do I find the Polygon Count?

Hello Dave,

Are you using DEM or mesh a a source of the orthomosaic?

Also do you have very oblique images in the image set?

Polygon count is the number of faces in mesh and can be found in the chunk contents.

Alexey,

Under Mesh Statstics, it shows total faces = 27375, Total Vertices 14081.

All the images are vertical, no oblique images.

The previous attempts were from a DEM source. I am currently trying MESH source.

I am currently building the orthomosaic from a DEM source and it appears that the memory usage on windows task manager is stabilized and memory will not be a problem.

I has an hour to go. I will report back on the results.

Thanks Alexey

Alexey,

I stared an orthomosaice build based on a DEM source. It worked for a while, then I got the message "can't build pyramid data".

I have not seen this message or any reference to "pyramid data" before.

Any suggestions?

Dave

Hello Dave,

Can't write pyramid data error message is usually related to the insufficient disk space. During orthomosaic generation process PhotoScan keeps orthorectified images in the .files folder related to the PSX project file. Is there sufficient disk space?

Alexey,

You suggestions resolved the issue. I put the project file on a working drive with significantly more space available than my boot drive. The orthomosaic was successful this time.

I am very impressed with the quality of the ortho-photos I had exported with version 1.2.3
