Hello kris3d,

The latest version of PhotoScan is version 1.2.3 that is available on the download page.

In case the crashes still happen there, we need the following information:
- all mesh generation settings,
- number of points in sparse/dense cloud,
- processing log related to the mesh reconstruction procedure that failed,
- computer hardware specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS).

Alexsey,

the same is happening to me with dense point cloud generation since upgrade. It is happening with any size of project. I've all the latest NVidia drivers installed. I'm controlling the cpu/gpu ratio. It all worked fine before upgrade so that is the only variable I can id. Processing log attached.

Thanks, Siobhán.

NVIDIA GeoForce GTX 760 Ti OEM graphics card
Intel(R) Core i7-4790k CPU @ 4.00 GHz (8 CPUs)
16Gb RAM
Windows 7 operating system.

Hello S.McDermott,

Can you try to run dense cloud generation for the same scene with the OpenCL computtions disabled?

If it is still crashing, it might me RAM issue.

Hi Alexey,

I ran the dense cloud generation on a test project that I had successfully processed prior to upgrade on the same workstation. The first generation I ran with OpenCL computations disabled, it processed fine. The second with OpenCL enabled and it crashed again. I've attached the processing log.

Thank-you,

Siobhán.

Hello Siobhán,

It seems to be related to the graphic card then. I can suggest to run some stress tests for the graphic card and specific OpenCL tests to see, if the are any issues.

Meanwhile we'll try to reproduce the crashes on the similar GPU and the same driver version. So far we were not able to make it crashing on the version 1.2.3 with the latest NVidia drivers.

PS is crashing on me as well. Here is an image that show my settings:

and here is a link to the log file:

I think the crashing may correspond to when my screen turns off.

Hello bisenberger,

What are the specs of your system?

Building mesh in Arbitrary mode might be very resource intensive operation (http://www.agisoft.com/pdf/tips_and_tricks/PhotoScan_Memory_Requirements.pdf) for 1000 images even on Medium quality of the dense cloud. Have you watched the memory monitor, whether all the free memory has been consumed by the process?

So the issue in your case is likely related to the memory. If it is reproducible I can suggest to check the RAM modules.
